Prayer & Mass
At St. Hedwig Catholic School, the Eucharistic celebration is the heart of our spiritual life. Each week our entire student body gathers for Mass, with individual classes preparing the readings, music, and prayers of the faithful—deepening their understanding of liturgy while serving their community.
Faith extends beyond the school day: every month a grade level leads our parish-wide Celtic Family Mass on Sunday, uniting students, families, and parishioners around the altar. Daily, we pause to pray—at morning assembly, at the start of every class, and before dismissal—grounding all learning and activity in gratitude and the presence of Christ.
Through these rhythms of Mass and daily prayer, students learn that worship is not just an event but a way of life, shaping them to become compassionate, faith-filled leaders.

This special celebration brings our school and parish community together in faith and fellowship.
Commonly Prayed
Students at St. Hedwig grow in faith by learning and praying traditional Catholic prayers regularly throughout the school day. Some of the most commonly prayed include:

- The Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)
- Hail Mary

- The Apostles’ Creed (especially in upper grades)
- Act of Contrition (especially during Reconciliation)
- Grace Before Meals (Blessing Before Food)

These prayers help center our day in faith, build a habit of prayer, and connect students to the life of the Church.
Each year, St. Hedwig Catholic School joyfully celebrates the special people in our lives with a special prayer service dedicated to honoring the love, faith, and wisdom of our students’ special elders.
This cherished tradition brings generations together in prayer and gratitude. Students and loved ones attend side by side, giving thanks for the gift of family and the legacy of faith passed from one generation to the next. Special Persons prayer service will be held on February 5, 2027.
Special Person’s Day
First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion is a sacred milestone in a child’s faith journey. Typically received in second grade, this sacrament marks the first time a student receives the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist — a moment of deep spiritual significance and joy.
Through religion class, students learn about the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, the meaning of the Mass, and the importance of receiving this sacrament with reverence and love.
It is truly a grace-filled celebration for our entire school and parish community. First Holy Communion is scheduled for May 1, 2027.
Each spring, St. Hedwig Catholic School comes together for May Crowning, a cherished tradition honoring Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as Queen of Heaven and Mother of the Church.
Through hymns, prayers, and the offering of flowers, our school community reflects on Mary’s example of humility, obedience, and unconditional love — inviting her to intercede for us and guide us closer to Christ. Our students will honor Mary on May 12, 2027.
