Sacramental Preparation Program

Guiding our children to learn what it means to be loved by God is an essential part of their education.  It is a special moment when a child learns about this great love and receives two of the Sacraments of Our Church:  the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist.  Parents are an integral part of this sacramental preparation and this exciting time.

Preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is a two year process.

Year 1:

  • Learn the importance of prayer and building a relationship with God
  • Attend Mass regularly as a family
  • Create Prayer Space at home

Year 2:
  •  Learn about the importance of choosing right instead of wrong and the importance of admitting mistakes
  •  Learn about sin and how to ask for forgiveness to bring peace to their hearts
  •  Attend a special retreat at the Heart of Jesus Retreat Center.  Parents are encouraged to attend.

Students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in February.  During April, students prepare to receive Holy Communion as a class community.   During May, they receive their Holy Communion as a class community.
