St. Hedwig Band

Band is back at St. Hedwig School! No prior experience is needed for a musician to join the band. The goal of band is for each musician to have fun playing music while acquiring skills and a perspective on music that will enhance their lives forever.

 

Musicians will be able to choose to play from the following instruments:

 

          • flute
          • clarinet
          • alto saxophone
          • trumpet
          • trombone
          • percussion/bell kit
 

All SHS students attended an instrument demonstration assembly at school on Monday, June 12 where they heard young musicians playing the above instruments.

 

SHS students will have the summer to decide which instrument they would like to play. The internet is a great resource to hear and see instruments being played. Once your musician has decided on an instrument, please notify me by email so that I can plan accordingly. Please email me the musician’s:

 

          • first and last name
          • grade in school (2023-24 school year)
          • instrument
          • parent’s or guardian’s name
          • parent’s cell phone contact number
 

Band participation fee: $499.00 checks payable to: Tom Mitter

Payment is due by the first rehearsal September 13, 2023. This one-time fee covers all classes and performances. A payment installment plan is available.

“Band Night” in Quinn Hall: Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Convenient one stop shopping. Rent or purchase an instrument, method book and instrument accessories. Provided by Morey’s Music Store.

Regular classes

Green Band (3rd, 4th & 5th): 2:50 pm until 3:50 pm
Gold Band (6th, 7th & 8th): 3:55 pm until 4:55 pm

(Gold Band musicians have the option to spend the time between school dismissal and band class doing homework in day care.)

 

Early dismissal classes *

Green Band (3rd, 4th & 5th graders): 12:15 pm until 1:15 pm
Gold Band (6th, 7th & 8th graders): 1:20 pm until 2:20 pm

 

Scheduled Performances:

    • Holiday Performance Party: Wednesday, December 20, 2023, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. In Quinn Hall - A low pressure first performance with potluck treats for all after the performance.  
    • Formal Winter Concert: Tuesday, February 13, 2023, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Quinn Hall.
    • Formal Spring Concert: Tuesday, May 21, 2023, May 21, 2023, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Quinn Hall.
